Which is your closest ski area? Peak N Peak is the most popular and about the same distance as Holiday Valley. Holiday Valley has better slopes in my opinion (remember I am a beginner so take my opinion for what it is worth but the Hotel and Inns are not as nice as the Peak. Both are 40 minutes basic drive from here. There is one closer but it is so impressive I can't recall the name. I actually like driving in the snow, probably from growing up in MN. It's the other drivers on the road that give me trouble; they're typically way too cautious, and clog things up. Of course, I may very well be as likely as they are to end up sliding off the road <g>. I am like you and we, meaning the area, has the same problem with drivers that are passing through on I79 though the snowbelt that are residents of southern US etc. I have become not fond of driving during heavy snowfall at night due to visibility problems. Either the snow has become thicker or my eyes aged <VVBG> Sounds like you drive something with 4WD and a bit of extra clearance? I do not on typical days. My wife has a Bravada which as the clearance and the four wheel drive. If we get more than 24 inches in a 12 hour period I use it. The only driving issues for me is the road I live on due to no other traffic so very little plowing and a 20% incline give or take a bit. The other is the peak of the snow belt coming off lake Erie is about 12 miles north of here and if I am going to my store in Erie, that is an issue usually prior to the lake freezing over. It was this last December when that location received 229 inches of snowfall in December alone. Hardly anyt significant new snow fall since early January.
