Milo,

Is Intel selling any desktop processors?

I bought a PIII system, an Athlon system and two Duron systems in the last three months.

My observations are:

1. Single processor Celeron serves no purpose whatsoever.
2. Single processor PIII serves almost no purpose.
3. P4 might be a good machine for a few scientists who run their own compiled floating point apps.
4. Duron is ideal for almost everybody on the desktop.
5. Athlon is a waste of money if it comes at a significant premium to Duron. (Except for gamers, of course.)
6. MP Celeron and PIII systems are the best buy for power users.
