CANNES, France – Nortel Networks* [NYSE/TSE: NT] has been selected to help
build another UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) network – by
Cegetel in France – and has established a series of alliances with key developers
of third generation (3G) wireless applications and appliances, reinforcing its global
leadership position in accelerating availability of the new, high-performance
Wireless Internet.

Seeking to accelerate the advent of the high-performance Wireless Internet for
consumers, Mitsubishi Electric Telecom Europe (METE) and Nortel Networks*
[NSYE/TSE: NT] plan to conduct joint interoperability tests of third generation
(3G) Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) terminals and
wireless network infrastructure.

In a step toward bringing multimedia Wireless Internet services closer to reality,
Nortel Networks* [NYSE/TSE: NT], Samsung* and PrairieComm* have begun
interoperability testing of third generation (3G) UMTS (Universal Mobile
Telecommunications System) mobile terminals and wireless network
infrastructure.

Nortel Networks* [NYSE/TSE: NT] and Motorola, Inc. [NYSE: MOT] announced
today at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes a non-exclusive global agreement
to jointly market to wireless operators an integrated solution featuring Wireless
Internet infrastructure equipment from Nortel Networks and Motorola wireless
handsets.

MapInfo* [NASDAQ: MAPS] and Nortel Networks* [NSYE/TSE: NT] announced
today at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes an agreement to jointly market to
service providers an integrated platform for delivery of voice-activated Wireless
Internet ‘concierge services.’

Nortel Networks* [NYSE/TSE: NT] and Webraska have agreed to jointly market
integrated location-based, third generation (3G) wireless services that are
expected to help accelerate availability of the new, high-performance Wireless
Internet.

Cegetel, a subsidiary of Vivendi-Universal, has signed a Letter of Intent to
purchase infrastructure equipment and services from Nortel Networks*
[NYSE/TSE: NT] for build out of a third generation (3G) UMTS (Universal Mobile
Telecommunications System) network in Paris, strengthening Nortel Networks
leadership position in delivering the high-performance Wireless Internet to Europe.
