GST: The CPI and PPI did have a spike in Jan. That spike arose due to the increase in LPG and crude energy materials. In addition, winter is always a month for a small increse in Food as vegetables/Fruit are in short supply in that season. The energy costs were also caused by deregulation which led to shut down of some Fossil plants and the start up of gas fired cogeneration units. The Energy spot market and speculation therein has also added to the cost to the Consumer. It will take a few years before that market stabilises. The Feds and states should get together to ensure the Consumer is protected during this transition.
