HK New World Telephone, PCCW Back In Crt Over Fee Dispute
Updated: Tuesday, February 20, 2001 09:13 PM ET

HONG KONG (Dow Jones)--Hong Kong's Court of Appeal starting Wednesday will hear a dispute over delivery charges between New World Telephone, a unit of New World Development (N.NWD, news, msgs) and Pacific Century CyberWorks-Hong Kong Telecommunications International, part of the Pacific Century Cyberworks Ltd. (PCW, news, msgs), NWT said in a press release.

NWT says it's entitled to delivery fees from incoming international phone calls between January 1997 and October 1998 because the interconnection agreement between PCCW-HKTI's international gateway and NWT's local fixed telecommunications network provided the basis for payment.

"We would like the court to clarify the definition of 'delivery fee,"' a NWT spokeswoman told Dow Jones Newswires.

She declined to provide any further details.

The case was brought before the Court of First Instance in April, but the judge decided not to rule on several points of law raised by NWT.

The hearing is scheduled to be held until Friday.
