Oh, gee. Learn something new every day. Perhaps Steve The Smart Guy would be so kind to explain what really happens when the rate goes to zero. Perhaps tell all the doofus bears on the thread what it is that all those uneducated people in Japan haven't figured out either. Reality has a habit of making things complicated. Not to put too fine a point on it, but they may not have written anything in that textbook of yours what happens under the situation when the allocation and use of capital is inefficient and/or wasteful. In such a case, the money supply can grow but the capital it stands to represent can shrink. Money capital = capital only when the capital markets are perfectly efficient! They aren't. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some more fenestrating to do, and you have some more homework to do. John.
