QUALCOMM Expands YISO Telecom Co.'s CDMA Modem Card License for 3G CDMA

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 2001--QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced an amendment to YISO Telecom Co.'s existing CDMA modem card license agreement. Prior to the amendment, YISO Telecom Co.'s CDMA license covered only cdmaOne(TM) products. Under the terms of the royalty-bearing amendment, QUALCOMM has granted YISO an amendment to expand its existing licenses under QUALCOMM's CDMA patent portfolio to include the design and market of third-generation (3G) CDMA (e.g. cdma2000, cdma2000 1xEV, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA) modem cards. The royalties payable by YISO, are the same for 3G as those for second-generation equipment, irrespective of the licensed CDMA standard.
