Hmmm...if you go for a ride with someone on their boat, and that someone displays behaviour that indicates an altered intention, or a change in rationality such that you believe your safety is being compromised--you would be entitled to take the measures that to you seemed justified by the exact circumstances.

As a separate person from that someone-- a person with independent interests both in mind and body--you would not need to have your interests calculated or exercised by that someone--but could exercise your own unique reason, your own force of will, and your own moral judgement, in order to effect the necessary actions to promote your safety.
