I think the production of large numbers of unwanted children, and specifically 1 parent families and teenage pregnancy to be as much a result of degradation of society as a cause if not more so. I do agree that it is to an extent a cause as well, but it is only one factor. Another point is not all of these bad parenting situations are unwanted pregnancies. There are teenagers who actually want to get pregnant. They feel it will tie their boyfriends closer to them, or they feel unloved now and think the baby will love them, or (before welfare reform) that they would then get a welfare check and be able to get there own place. There reasons mostly aren't that logical but then people often don't act logically.
