BofA's McKechnie on QCOM
--11:53 am - By Tomi Kilgore
Qualcomm (QCOM: news, msgs) is shedding $4.44, or 6.2 percent, to $66.81. Analyst Mark McKechnie at Banc of
America said Wednesday's announcement that Korea's Samsung had chosen Rolling Meadows, Ill.-based
PrairieComm's W-CDMA chipsets in Samsung's third-generation handsets is a "potential long-term negative" form
Qualcomm. He noted that Samsung is a "top" customer of Qualcomm's and the announcement casts doubt on
Qualcomm's dominance of the W-CDMA market. Meanwhile, McKechnie says the PrairieComm selection does not
impact Qualcomm in the near-term. He reiterated his "buy" rating and $100 price target.
