I'm not arguing against pay raises for teachers. I am arguing against the idea that we should try to determine the importance of an industry and then pay people in that industry based on this determination. I don't think we should pay teachers what a good microprocessor designer makes, or force microprocessor designers to work for what we pay teachers now. Tim
