I still think your problem is software. I had a problem 2 years ago with my then new Dell. It would re-boot all by itself, and I mean re-boot quick, no warning. Only while using Netscape.
I spent countless hours formatting the HD and installing programs one at a time. The problem would not go away, but it seemed to improve (re-booted less). It was an intermittent problem too, so very hard to locate. I am still using that box today, a lot of software upgrades since then. It has not re-booted by itself since 1.5 years ago. I had experts telling me it was all sorts of hardware problems, heat, faulty power supply, faulty reset switch, etc, but it was software. I used that version of Netscape with other computers with NO problems.
Try and always use the most current drivers from the manufacture. They are all available on the web. Message 6767921
Try and figure out when it does the freeze up thing. Remember, mine always did it while using Netscape, and changing browsers was NOT an option.
Most of my computer problems history because of my moto: Only install the software/hardware you are going to use. Keep your system lean and mean. Less software and hardware means less problems.
Now my systems are running very good. Last week after hooking up Creative Video Blaster Moviemaker, I had problems with the system becoming very unstable. I restored a recent image, and installed the Moviemaker and software once again, and now it's solid and stable. |
