Unfortunately for you, the President-Select and the Republican Party also are pushing the expansion of socialized medicine in the form of prescription drug benefits and the like. So your comments of concern would better be directed at the Repub leadership in Congress. The U.S. is the only "major" free-world country that excludes people (more than 45 million in the case of the U.S.) from its health-care umbrella. Here's an idea: Take the money that the Repubs want to waste to create a Star Wars shield (which won't work anyway) and instead extend health care benefits to the single mom with two kids who's working a factory job. Seems to me if we're going to reward the fat cat richest of the rich with huge tax breaks we also should do something for the working men and working women who helped bring about this economic boom of the late 1990s.
