Wolf, if you're bearish enough to write a post like yesterday's, we've got to be close to a low. Now I don't mean that you're the only contra-indicator, but the level of bearishnes on this thread and other places often accompanies buying opportunities. Not today necessarily, but in the next week or so if I see more 'the world is coming to end' stories in the papers. I have a friend who is a retired broker and he tends to be all gloom and doom at market bottoms, boy was was grumpy today. There's a saying that goes something like 'bull markets have to climb a wall of worry'. Well, that wall is starting to look pretty high. It's not very scientific but there is a psychology to the market. I'm with Jeff, there's no point in selling a year into a bear market.
