Hands, There is a basic conflict between being a cheapskate, as I am, and trying to diet. "Leave food on the plate? Unthinkable!" <g>
I don't think it is just looking good, but feeling good about yourself. When I am managing money, I always feel funny when I see folks dressed casually during business hours at banks, insurers or brokerage firms. I think if you took a poll of people who walk into a bank, they would prefer to have the man in the navy blue suit with the rep tie and laced up black shoes help them with their account than the guy in the sweater and dockers. I know I would. It is different in the arts or even in academia. But in the money business as in funerals, very similar businesses recently <g>, I think a sincere suit means you are serious.
So, I may be as ugly as an old mud rail fence, but if my tie is a seven fold Kiton, rated by the Robb Report as the best tie in the world, it makes me feel more confident in dealing with people. After all, who will notice that I look like Quasimodo after a sleepless night if I am dressed well? <VBG> |
