Ten,

Athlon debuted at 180 mm2, but that didn't dampen your constant praise of the design.

Athlon was 180mm on 0.25u, and I praised it because it was a very well balanced design.

P4 is twice the size of Athlon on 0.18u, and runs at much lower IPC, and not much higher frequency.

P4 is a poor design for the mass market, and the decision to only use dual channel RDRAM was probably the dumbest decision I've have seen yet from Intel.

(Actually, the decision to go exclusively with RDRAM on Timna was just as bad.)

I know that you work for Intel, but I'm sure you understand that Intel is very poorly positioned in the desktop market. The only thing that keeps their desktop business alive, is inertia.
