Off topic --- Windows Registry travel guide …

I hate to travel any further than I can comfortably walk. My husband loves to travel. He loves it so much he’s willing to go alone, and I’m willing to let him. We’ll take one short vacation a year together, and when this is over, I’m so happy to be home, I whistle while I do housework.

When he goes and I stay, I keep a running journal of where he is. Every day, I check the calendar, determine his location in the atlas, read about the place, think of him, say a prayer, and give thanks for his safety. He reserves his visits to adventuresome places for those times when I’m staying put.

Quite a few years ago, before the Soviet collapse, he crossed Siberia. Returning, he visited Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara. As much as I hate heat and humidity, he loves warmth and moisture. He told me that the air in these places was so dry his nose hurt even in the shower. I know nothing about this part of the world beyond what I learned by tracing his travels.

Thank-you for filling in a bit of history. My original post on the matter was concerning the country information Windows makes available. I was hoping for some guidance about the dangers of removing data for places I’ll never be taking my computer, and I mentioned that I never heard of a few of these names. I was acquainted with some, but not all, of the …stan places, but obviously my knowledge of them is profoundly superficial.

Are you from the area, or just well informed? Perhaps a PM would be appropriate if you find it simply isn’t worth the effort to contort your answer to fit the topic Computer Learning, although I’m sure many who read this thread would be interested too. You be the judge.

Cheers, PW.
