Hi all; Samsung says DDR to be next main memory, makes X-Box graphics chips:

Samsung to roll out faster graphic memory chips
The Korea Herald, February 22, 2001
Samsung Electronics said yesterday it began volume production of higher capacity memory chip to be used in graphic applications, one of the fastest growing segments in the computer components market.

The company said Microsoft has already selected it as the graphics chips supplier for its X-Box game machines. It has already received orders for the first half of the year.

Samsung's new 128M synchronous dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chip uses a technology called double data rate (DDR), which improves speed by activating output on both the rising and falling edge of the system clock, while existing SDRAMs work on just the rising edge.
...
DDR SDRAMs are used largely in graphic solutions for computers, but experts expect they will be adopted as main memory due to its high data processing rate.
