Hi, Frank - I'm fascinated by Runcom's technology, which will (unless I've completely misunderstood - quite possible!) allow simultaneous transmission/reception. As usual, many of the details are missing.

On the BBWF '01 front, there were panel sessions, and some vigorous marketing. I was fascinated by this well-crafted bit of 'news' (thanks to Arcane500)...

Ah, well...everybody's floggin' their product. Kinda makes you wonder why anyone but NextNet bothered to show up. >g<

Show Wrap-Up

The BBWWF'01 show was extremely busy (as predicted). Over 1000 attended the crossfire panel, with standing room only for late comers. NextNet was the only panel member able to hold up a working product, and it was very well-received. The panel members from Cisco and Wi-Lan entertained the audience with zingers back and forth over their pending lawsuit. The Iospan panelist talked about MIMO technology but questions were raised relating to the high cost of the MIMO architecture. Ralph explained NextNet's position relating to standards -- that product performance should drive the standard, and not vice versa. Let everyone compete and the product that performs the best from both a technology and cost standpoint will win. This message drew applause, and the comment from the audience "that's right on the money,"

Our booth was visited by a number of key MMDS service providers, and talks continue as to specifics of our beta rollout. We had interviews with Yankee Group, Gartner Group, Strategis Group and several members of the press, who saw our system "work" for the first time. They were amazed and especially liked the simplicity of the system and the business model for fast, low-cost rollout.

We are currently involved in a period of intense due diligence, and we feel that we are leading the industry for reasons discussed previously. Beyond that I can't comment on specific deals.

Please remember that the communication vehicle for any NextNet announcements (ie., deals, contracts, etc.) would, of course, be in the form of a press release, not a message board post. My purpose in posting here is to open the doors of NextNet to you as though you were a visitor, and to "visually" demonstrate and leverage our product and its attributes to you, against the landscape of the fixed wireless marketplace.
