This is a classic case of people still not understanding what is happening with wireless 3G. Dr. Jacobs has said all along, for at least the last two years, the "W-CDMA" will not be ready and that the only choice for early deployment of 3rd generation wireless standards will be CDMA-2000. How the press spins this only creates a buying opportunity.

CDMA-2000 is on schedule to be deployed by both Verizon and Sprint this year. With everyone now believing that W-CDMA is still vaporware, the pressure on those carriers not currently using CDMA will be tremendous. The only question is will they have enough money to upgrade after selling the farm to pay for spectrum. Notice that Nextel dropped out of the latest FCC spectrum auction. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to hear Nextel announce an official commitment to CDMA-2000.

I'm am extremely happy because I thought I'd never have the opportunity to get back some of my shares I lost in the Y2K plunge.
