This is not a stupid rationalization when referring to Warren Buffett, who has stated publicly that he will never invest in companies whose business he can't understand, such as technology.

So, does Warren know how to carbonate a soft drink? Print a newspaper? I doubt Buffet is investing in Iomega, but there's not that much to understand about Iomega's business. They make and market products that there is a large demand for. All the talk about parallel port vs. SCSI, access speed, etc. is just side talk. The equivelent of Coke's secret formula vs. Pepsi's. It doesn't matter as much as Coke's marketing strategy and market share. Iomega has demonstrated that they can market a whole hell of lot better than Syquest, Nomai, and all the other removable drive makers.
