Placer Dome helps junior company develop gold mine
An international mining giant is helping a junior in its efforts to develop a gold mine in Timmins.

Davidson Tisdale Ltd. has entered into a confidentiality agreement with Placer Dome (CLA) Ltd., a member of the Placer Dome Group.

Pursuant to this agreement, Placer Dome has been disclosed confidential information concerning Davidson Tisdales interest in certain mineral exploration properties in Timmins.

The parties have made no commitment nor entered into any discussion other than as provided for in the confidentiality agreement, states Davidson president Robert Norcott.

Management of Davidson Tisdale has met with representatives from Placer Dome and have exchanged certain technical and geological information, he says.

Davidson controls the mining rights to approximately 1,440 acres in northeast Tisdale Township, inside Timmins.

The Dome Gold Mine, in production since 1910 and the longest continuous operating gold mine in Canada, is also located in Tisdale Township.

Gold was discovered on the Davidson property in 1909 and over the years several operators worked on it.

Placer Dome in 1994 conducted an evaluation of the shaft area with an aim to developing an open pit.

An internal Placer Dome report contained a resource estimate of 192,250 tonnes of ore running 5.32 grams to the tonne from a geological defined ore block.

This report was not used for a feasible study.

Davidson is seeking financing to further its work on the property, he said last year.
