MSDW analyst Louis Gerhardy just raised QCOM from Accumulate to a Strong buy. I was talking to my MSDW broker on the phone when they had a "Shoutdown" (I think it's called). This is an important broadcast to all MSDW brokers. I listened in on his speakerphone.

He was EXTREMELY POSITIVE. He's not counting ANY WCDMA money in his forecasts until three more years, and at that time, he projects it might only be 10% of revenues. He said we'll see accelerating earnings just with CDMA2000. He also said that QCOM is involved in $20 of the $80 of the electronics in a phone, and that in the future they will be increasing that (I hope I got that part right).

Some big buys were being made at the time.

It's nice to see someone step and raise ratings in the face of others lowering.
