Yes, the sparkplug injector is important to retrofit cost.

And I'm betting that SCC will also allow OE to meet even tighter emissions than OCP. Back to the injector. We know the injector works best in the center. We also know a plug does too. The two don't want to share. And if that wasn't enough motivation, they really don't have room to share in a four valve combustion chamber. And even if you manage it, you have to move things around, which means not only a whole new cylinder head design, but new tooling to build it as well. This eats time and money.

Like everyone else, I'm greatly disappointed by OE's decision to project they would complete difficult negotiation before a looming deadline. The markets just won't forgive behavior like this right now, and definitely not for a company operating without any profits at all. As bad as today is, I think both this board and the Club have proven themselves to be credible boards by the widespread posting of criticism of OE. You're getting a lot more objective viewpoint from the proponents than the opponents. They only sing one song. After ten or twelve times don't even bother.

I agree with some others in that the huge deals we've been waiting for are unaffected by this accounting timing issue. And I also agree that marine 4S also holds some promise for OE. I consider DFI to be a much better emissions solution than a cat in an inboard boat. Hell, I consider it better than a cat on an outboard. Cats need to be kept where they can't be touched and aren't near fuel fumes. Maybe Yamaha will put a cat in boat and on an outboard, but I'm betting others will look for another solution. This is liability problem in addition to being a reliability issue.

The key thing to remember is that OE hasn't failed until their competitor's have succeeded. The Ficht debacle speaks for itself, and Mitsubishi's HPDFI isn't exactly taking over the world.
