What you say implies that Jacobs believes what he says and that he felt compelled as QCOM's CEO to inform the world, in the most grandiose fashion possible, that QCOM's future prospects have been damaged severely by an allegedly hugely delayed 3G build-out. For what purpose did he make a trans-Atlantic flight over to Europe, to the GSM convention, to tell the world that QCOM's future royalty stream is up sh*t creek? Wouldn't a conference call from QCOM headquarters in sunny southern CA do? To do his good deed for the day? As a former boy scout? As a Christian? Out of the goodness of his heart? Because his mother taught him to tell no lies? To help ensure that nobody purchased QCOM's stock at an unrealistic level? To get better strike prices on his employee's stock options? To exculpate speculative activity in the market for QCOM's stock because he thinks speculation frivolous? To help lower the market's PE? To make the world a better place? I hear Mr. Jacob's loud and clear: QCOM won't be able to deliver the bacon when the market is hungry? In lieu of 3G, the age of GPRS is upon us. GPRS! GPRS! GPRS! GPRS is the future King! Long live the King! Long live GPRS!
All hail!
