Rumor of 1/2pt cut=>Spike rally=>if rumor false=>Spike down.

Expectations are building. By the time Fed gets around to considering rate cut, they'll look at the market and say 'looks like all we have to do is spread the rumor', we didn't want to give a rate cut anyways. Should we ?
