SOFTWARE/E-BUSINESS APPLICATIONS Heather Bellini, CFA Highlights From SSB IT Consulting Conference Yesterday, we attended an IT Services Conference hosted by Salomon Smith Barney. While looking to gleam information about the state of the software market, we spoke with several systems integrators. While several firms we spoke with talked about new deal signings taking slightly longer, in general most commented that demand for CRM and SCM applications remains healthy. It also appears that IT Services firms are being brought into the deals earlier, meaning that they are driving more vendor selections than before. Software vendors with a strong international presence are in a better position to fight the US slowdown. *There are mixed feelings regarding whether or not a high ROI is enough to drive spending for applications with lengthy implementation periods.
