Tim, this guy is very distinguished. But when I read this line "There exists no overall shortage of people willing to teach or even of people certified to teach." I was wondering what world he's living in. I can only speak to LA and KC, areas which I have friends in education - there is a shortage of both. A severe shortage of both, and both areas are hiring teachers PRIOR to getting their credentials. One girl I used to work with, is now a teacher and has gone two full years without getting her credentials. She makes about $30K/year in LA. That is poverty. US News did a special report on teachers earlier this year. It was very good and had average incomes of teachers by state. It is amazing how some teachers can even get by. (I know you aren't agreeing with this guy, I just wanted to comment because I'm waiting for a ride, and have nothing better to do) :) Dave
