HB said that AMZN has 10K vendors so a few might be unhappy at any given time.

To me, 10K vendors sounds like a nightmare in and of itself.

Bob,

The first question comes to mind is how does HB know this. It is not in any conference call, SEC filing or press release. The SEC requires fair disclosure so either Amazon is providing HB information in a relatively illegal fashion or HB is making this up. My guess and it is an opinion only is HB is making this number up.

To me, 10K vendors sounds like a nightmare in and of itself.

Yes that would be a nightmare. My recent quick search into the products Amazon sells indicates it would be impossible to have that many vendors for those products. There are not that many unless Amazon is buying from retail stores and calling them vendors?

The definition of vendors is not defined and maybe that is counted like the cumulative customers. Amazon states in the "About Amazon" in their press releases that Amazon has 30 million customers. Amazon also admitted to having only 17 million active customers in 2000 so the 30 million number has no meaning at all. My point is the 10K vendor number has no meaning either.
