X, is this the sentence that set you off?

"I would save an innocent human child over the last living tiger. "

If so I ask would you save the tiger or the person?

My decision to save the person is of course because I consider humans to be more important but also because I don't think of a species to be incredibly important as a species. What I mean by this is that the most important part of a species is all of its individuals. If you had the choice would you save all the tigers in the world, or a billion people? Even if I considered tigers to be equal in importance to humans I would save the people. I might give saving the tigers something of a bonus because I put some weight on saving the species but not enough to make up for the fact that a billion is a lot more then the total number of tigers.
