Should Microsoft have settled awhile ago during the Posner mediated talks? From what I've read they were prepared and willing along with the DoJ but, the AGs weren't. And of course(!) that's Microsoft's fault too....

That's nonsense. All three parties (MSFT, DoJ, and AGs) were perfectly willing to settle. They just could not agree on the terms. Had MSFT simply offered to split themselves into and Ops and an Apps company, and to charge all customers the same price for its products, and to give all developers the same documentation and SDKs that the new Apps company got, I would bet that both the DoJ and the AG would have settled.

But no, MSFT preferred a settlement that had holes in it big enough to walk through comfortably and maybe a slap on the wrists and maybe a pouty look from the Judge.
