What's your definition of vaporware? By computer and telco standards, WCDMA is vaporware until someone launches a successful commercial system. 1XEV is vaporware at this point, also.

I believe the term was derived from "big blue's" marketing tactics and clout in the 70's. As soon as the competition comes out with something better than yours, announced a better product(then scramble to make it happen). They are still scrambling to make WCDMA "happen".
