Jill,
Jonathan Lebed was a big star right here on SI, three years ago or so (using his real name). He was a great nemesis to "Tokyo Joe" (Park), who at the time was probably SI's number-one star. No one would have ever suspected that JL was a kid, as his countless posts were very articulate. JL's biggest pump was a stock called FAMH, while at the time TJ was betting his "farm" on Rentech (RTK). JL even started a thread he called "FAMH versus RTK--This is War!" Their personal battle was most entertaining--and later, I'm sure Joe was mortified to learn that all the while he was fighting a twelve-year old! JL's pump of FAMH was so successful that I made $10,000 on it at the time. Joe meanwhile insisted that it was a total scam, which it was, as the CEO ended up in prison. RTK was never the huge success that TJ predicted, but it was (is) a legitimate stock that I still own 3,000 shares of. I guess you were not around SI then, as you surely would have been aware or little Jonathan, who posted hundreds of times every day on a variety of threads. I'm glad you brought this up, as it nice to reminisce about those long-gone days when there were tons of money to be made playing penny stocks. I remember one day in particular when a stock called BATT (I think) went from a few dollars to over a hundred just in one morning, and then all the way back down by the afternoon--they had some product that was supposed to increase gas mileage dramatically--at least it looked that way for a few hours! Isn't it fun to think that the stock market actually was like that once upon a time?
Best regards,
