Too bad about Metricom. I've been waiting for them to build out 128 kbps Ricochet here in the DC metro area for years. I would love to be able to access the net while I was in court or at someone else's office or at a law library or medical library. I use the net for research, so it would be make me more productive, easily worth $80 a month if it worked, and tax deductible. Also, I assume I could use PC Anywhere to access files on my fixed computers from my laptop, and work on pleadings, too. In the meantime, it's available in Baltimore and Minneapolis, for chrissake. This is the area that needs it, a greater saturation of workaholic lawyers doesn't exist on earth.

Yet another example of how an overambitous, nay, grandiose, business plan is fatal. Too much money going out, not enough money coming in.

>>Today, Ricochet is available at 128 kbps in the following markets: Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas/Ft Worth,
Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St Paul, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego,
and the San Francisco Bay Area. These areas join the Washington, D.C. and Seattle 28.8 kbps service areas,
allowing Ricochet users to take advantage of the freedom of wireless mobility on a nationwide basis.

Ricochet 128 kbps service is also planned for the following markets: Albany, Albuquerque, Austin, Boston,
Buffalo, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Colorado Springs, Columbus, Indianapolis, Kansas City,
Las Vegas, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Omaha, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Portland, Providence, Raleigh /Durham,
Richmond /Petersburg, Rochester, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Santa Fe, Seattle, St Louis, Tulsa, Virginia
Beach and Washington, D.C..<<

By the way, other than not needing it, how do you like it?
