gdr, i don't understand much about retail. however, i do understand that if you can make money, a reasonable and rational person would make money. to say we could make money if we wanted to, with a 90% stock collapse as a background, is absurd. to let said company obscure their numbers in order to hide the truth (could there be any other reason???) is a joke. true believers have been around forever and i guess they are still here.
i do know enough enough about human nature that as people get better and better knowledge, they *will* pay lower and lower prices. eg, i search for many products on the net. when i find the 2 or 3 lowest (a good 20-40% below what i would have paid otherwise!!!), i then go check out each company's rep on the newsgroups, cnet or on reseller review.com (been down lately). i go with the best price and satisfactory service.
i am flabbergasted how folks can call amazon the "low cost producer" when they buy wholesale more than best buy sells retail.
ignorance *is* bliss. however, it will eventually clear out the cobwebs in one's brokerage account - nothing will be left.
sure, i sound like a broken record - i've been saying this stuff for 3 years. all the while, the gulli*bulls* said i was wrong. you, too. bottom line is they are wrong and when they figure it out they do an exit stage left... and fast!!!
i do appreciate your retailing expertise so i understand other errors amzn makes beside having a broke business plan as a foundation.
sure, amzn loses money on every sale, but they will make it up on volume! yeah, right!?!?!? |
