Interesting cellphone story

. . . . I bought my teenage daughter a Sprint PCS "Qualcomm" cellphone for Christmas. The rebate was more than the price of the phone. That tells me something about upcoming revenues for handsets.

Yesterday, she told me that she was the only person she knew who had a cellphone that could make calls from the mall <ggg>. I asked her if she knew the problem with all her friends' cellphones: "Were they Nokias?" She responded: "Yes! How did you know?"

You just have to love that CDMA technology. Unfortunately, it's a part of an industry that GSM (with its ludicrous European auctions) is taking right down the tubes.

For years, I had an AT&T cellphone. It dropped calls all the time. My Sprint PCS cellphone has NEVER dropped a call. It's a work of art.

Just musing, john
