Having caught a few moments here and there of CNBC on Friday, a couple of things struck me .... one was of the apparent desperation of Applegate & Ryder (boy do these guys sweat !) for rate cuts ... as they seemingly had no fundamental reason to encourage the buying of stocks, and the other was the fund manager giving opinions on stocks who, when asked what he thought, said he owned it and if he any money available, would probably buy more at these cheaper levels. I guess he is fully invested.... which supports the 'bullish' sentiment % recently reported. I think that someone mentioned that the Nikkei may have bottomed ... but this is a seasonal event whereby domestic assets in their market must be bouyed to meet ratio reuirements. This usually results in Japanese money being drawn from US equities and reallocated to domestic stocks ... which should be a short-term weakness here. If the $ weakens in the meantime and the US market continues to look dodgy ... one has to wonder how quickly this money might find its way back to the US.

And then ... there is that pesky diamond formation promising a DJIA tank soon !!.

dmp said a while ago ... that 'it' feels different this time ... and maybe the tech secular market is the reality ... given how every recent decade has had a new sector leader ... which leads me to a question I've asked a few times before ... anyone any ideas what this one will be ??. Biotech and power is all I can think of ... but both look somewhat extended.

Regards

Stephen
