Mr. Rory Moore reports
The company reports that it has appointed George Read as vice president
effective March 1, 2001. Mr. Read replaces Daniel Innes who will remain a
director of the company.
Mr. Read brings to Canabrava over 17 years of international experience in
the diamond industry including 12 years with De Beers. During his time with
De Beers, Mr. Read gained extensive field experience in Africa, which
included work on kimberlite occurrences in South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe
and Mali in West Africa. Mr. Read has operated a successful consulting
business in Canada since 1997 and has extensive diamond exploration
experience on the Slave Craton and Victoria Island, NWT. Northern Quebec,
Ontario, Saskatchewan and Greenland Over the past two years, Mr. Read has
fulfilled the role of project manager for the Canabrava joint venture with
SouthernEra Resources in Brazil.
The company wishes to thank Daniel Innes for his significant contribution
to the growth and development of Canabrava over the past seven years.
Canabrava is actively exploring for diamonds in Brazil and Canada both
independently and through major joint ventures with Kennecott Canada
Exploration Inc., Navigator Exploration Corp., SouthernEra Resources Ltd.
and Paramount Ventures and Finance Inc. The company is 46.4-per-cent owned
by Southwestern Gold Corporation.
