Mark-

I do have several of the skills to decide on the real number of genes expressed by the human genome. From my own work and the evaluation of at least two databases using *cDNAs as assessed by cloning work, and the corresponding mRNAs as assessed by microarray and/or pcr analysis*, my bet is that there is between 75,000 to 100,000 mRNAs and consequently proteins expressed from the human genome. I would also not bet against Haseltine.
