Intel calls this feature 'Jackson Technology', and there is already a flag reserved in the CPU feature Register (bit 28, but this is still secret, as well that the CPUID-Command in EBX [23..16] will contain the number of logical processors. Of course Intel will give the technology with the meaningless codename Jackson technoloy a handy new name comparable to 'NetBurst' or 'Rapid Execution Engine'.

Wenn schon nicht IA-64, aber die Server-Version des Pentium 4, bekannt unter dem Codenamen Foster, wird neben einer Single-Ausführung (DP) auch mehrere logische Prozessoren (MP) auf einem Chip bieten.
Intel nennt dieses Feature ‘Jackson Technology’, für das im CPU-Feature-Register bereits ein Flag reserviert ist (Bit 28, aber das ist noch geheim, ebenso wie der Umstand, dass bei dem CPUID-Befehl in EBX [23..16] die Zahl der logischen Prozessoren ausgegeben wird). Sicherlich wird Intel die Technik mit dem nichts sagenden Codenamen Jackson Technology noch mit einem griffigen Terminus analog zu ‘NetBurst’ oder ‘Rapid Execution Engine’ umtaufen. |
