Gary likes pEcom

Here's a nice plug for eCom. I might characterize it as a tiny sapling rather than a big oak, though. <grin> I wonder whether eCom makes any money on the deal or is just building revenue. I can't think of any reason, other than lower cost, why a biller would go with eCom. CKFR (or BLLS) can provide the biller direct site (like eCom) as well as deliver customers through its network of CSPs or onto other potential networks (Spectrum).

Trees Falling in the Bill Presentment Forest

In the consumer/business segment, a big oak tree fell this week and no one seemed to really care. After carefully reviewing its options, a Time Warner division chose Princeton Ecom as its consumer bill presentment service provider. Princeton's multiple channel delivery options - Web Site, consolidators, etc - may have done the trick particularly since the customer base (Portland, Maine) may not be a big Checkfree or AOL territory and thus demands flexible delivery options. Thus, ECOM's agnostic bill delivery platform may have be the key to its victory.

Meanwhile, Checkfree supporters await further news from Time Warner's other divisions. It likely will be successful in regions where its customer footprint is dense relative to the biller's. Still, the win for ECOM continues to reinforce the notion that there is more than one big fish playing in the consumer bill presentment arena.
