Stagflation is unlikely to exist as a stable situation due to the ultimate outcome. IMO.

In a contractionary scenario, costs of inputs will drop and producers will be able to maintain slimmer margins at lower prices. In a soft landing scenario, additional productivity improvements will offset higher input costs- capital substitution. Nuclear war in the Mideast is the 0-00 on the roulet table that throws all efforts at analysis out the window. <ng>

Roach and another economist did articles Friday that basically argued that stagflation is not likely. While these articles will be archived soon, they will still be available for the determined individual.
