(COM) 26/02/01 09:24: Omnitel's Colao sees 1st GPRS handsets available March-April Omnitel's Colao sees 1st GPRS handsets available March-April MILAN (AFX) - Vittorio Colao, chief executive of Vodafone Group PLC's Italian unit Omnitel SpA, said the first GPRS handsets will be available in March-April but expects that large scale commercialisation of the product will only start in September in Italy. In an interview with the daily La Repubblica, Colao said UMTS services are expected to be commercialised in the second half of 2002 but mass promotion for the services will only start end-2002, early 2003. He added that he expects that "everyone in Italy" will use UMTS services in 2008-2009. pw/jkm/
