We're all standing on shifting sand. Recently, RAM prices have dropped. Many people are taking advantage of the bargains available and upgrading their systems. But are they extracting the maximum possible utility from their extra RAM?
As well, disk prices have fallen. Recent posts suggest people are upgrading disks. Again, are we taking advantage of additional or larger drives efficiently?
It seems that whenever a new processor becomes available, manufacturers, the media, developers, and users are quick to explore new possibilities and advantages. At the other extreme, bus design can mutate unnoticed for years.
Participants on this thread can communicate instantly and have used this to everyone's advantage. We have knowledgeable people like you and Mark leading the charge into the new and untried, beating a path for the less adventuresome to follow. We can go further together than separately, building on each other's strengths, and covering for each other's weak areas.
