as with bottom fishing technology, it's all a question of time horizon. There have been some signs of life in the steel market and sadly it has meant some producers are increasing production.

There has been a steel price increase pushed through but I would give it a no better than 25% chance of succeeding. Ironically if it does imports will again be attracted to the U.S. market which has been so low priced that it is uninteresting to importers.

Until there is consolidation in the industry it's not very exciting. If you want to dig around in the muck for a long term killing be sure to stay with strong balance sheets and good management. That would limit choices to Steel Dynamics, AK Steel, Nucor in my opinion.

After dealing with X and BS for decades...I wouldn't invest in the culture in either. These comments are of course not short term trading comments when anything goes.
