If you see in the money market fund's list of holdings "XXXX Funding Corp." (e.g. Delaware Funding), that is a red flag that you are holding toxic waste. Of course, most of this stuff will never blow up, and even when it does you will only lose a small part of your principle. The issue is how much extra yield are you getting for being in this stuff as opposed to U.S. Treasuries. Right now, there is not much of a spread.
