Combjelly Re..But that constant drumbeat of scandals, invented and ones with at least some basis in reality, pushed me into Bill's camp. Much of the stuff seemed to be simply made up, others were gross exaggerations of reality.<<<<<<<
Why would all of those scandals push you into Bill's camp when even you admit that some of them had a basis in reality. A lot of times, where there is smoke, there is fire. While the Foster suicide was just that, the fact that Vince was somewhat involved in whitewater, and Hillery's cleaning out of his office created the basis for these rumors. If Hillery had left the papers, all of these rumors could have been proven false. If Bill had turned over the papers in the whitewater investigation, instead of stalling for two yrs.; he wouldn't have feed all of the rumors of misdeeds. They could have been out of whitewater within a yr. if Bill had cooperated with the special counsel.
<<<<<Okay, he has a zipper control problem. Okay, he lies about his personal life. Okay, he could have saved himself some grief by being more open when the vultures were picking over everything. <<<<<
And these things will keep Bill rom being remembered as a great president. In fact, most people with zipper problems would have been fired in disgrace immediately.
The present mess about the pardons could very well be something similar, there is no real scandal here, but he stonewalls when pressed. And because so many believe that "when there is smoke there is fire"... <<<
What is different here is not that the pardons are any worse than any of Bill's other scandals. What is different is that the dems. have abandoned Bill, and have joined the rep. in condemning the pardons. The Dems have decided to sacrifice Bill; not because of the illegality, but because of the embarrassment, to promote their own interests. If the Dems had supported Bill, and if Bill had the bully pulpit like he did when president; Bill would skate free and clear again. |
