Gemstar - TV Guide International, Inc. Announces
Long-Term IPG Affiliation Agreement with The Canadian
Cable Systems Alliance Inc.

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 2001--GEMSTAR-TV GUIDE INTERNATIONAL, INC.
(NASDAQ:GMST - news; ``Gemstar''), today announced the completion of a long-term affiliation agreement with THE
CANADIAN CABLE SYSTEMS ALLIANCE INC. (CCSA) for the incorporation of the Gemstar Prevue Interactive(SM)
interactive program guide.

The CCSA is a federally incorporated Canadian company whose shareholder-based membership represents cable
operators with an aggregate subscriber base in excess of 1 million television households of the approximately 8 million
television households served by cable in Canada.

``This agreement assures our members access to the most sophisticated interactive program guide available anywhere in
the world,'' said Walter Weckers, President of CCSA. ``With Prevue Interactive, our members will be offering their
customers such features as programmable reminders, parental control options and impulse pay-per-view (PPV) ordering,
in addition to the most complete interactive program listings anywhere -- and will do so with the confidence of a proven
application.''

The Canadian cable industry currently provides service to approximately 8 million television households, out of the
approximately 11 million television households available in the country.

``We welcome the CCSA members to our growing list of prestigious licensees. The international marketplace is one that
we feel has tremendous potential for our interactive guidance services - and the Canadian marketplace is both important
and logical for us. This long-term agreement once again validates the strength of our international patent position, and
reconfirms the benefits that a licensee can enjoy under Gemstar's technological innovation, service quality and patent
protection,'' said Peter C. Boylan III, Co-President and co-COO of Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc.
