James: Way too much piss and vinegar in all these right-wing posts. That's the first thing I noticed when I started posting over on the GWB thread about eight months ago: extreme hate, or as they say nowadays, "smashmouth politics." I was shocked by the amount of hate displayed by right-wingers vs. the opposition. Still am, to some degree.

By comparison, I have said very little against GWB during his first five weeks in office. He's a likeable guy and he's trying hard, so I'm going to cut him some slack. I think his main sin at this point is that he's pushing too much too early.

When I call him the "President-Select," yes, that is an editorial comment, but it is mainly criticism directed at the majority on the U.S. Supreme Court who decided to take the election into their hands. Think about it: If the U.S. Supreme Court would have stayed out of the Florida fray, there would have been a recount in parts of the state and Bush would have won, according to what my afternoon newspaper reports today.

Wouldn't that have been preferable than to have a U.S. Supreme Court tarnished by its decision to select the president and a large segment of the population still believing that the Repubs "stole" the election?
