Let me approach this from another angle. Let's say we are talking about my 7 year old daughter. The fact is, you and I have no guarantee that we will live beyond the next few hours. None of us do.

Is the point of life to see who can go the longest? Pile the highest stack of materials? Get richest? etc. Of course not. The point in life is to look at the givens which always offer reward as well as struggle and suffering. The point IMO is to accept all of this as a personal test. The well being of others is a concern each of us holds in account. I would not be OK in explaining to my daughter that the circumstances of her survival were at the expense of forcing someone else to bleed against their will. The one situation you present also lays the foundation to base other decisions about people who you consider less noble than your self: criminals, unwanted fetus's, undesirables, etc.
